On the morning of 30th March, 2009, the large-scale signing event ‘Bring the Integrity to you’, which was hosted by Graduate Union and Doctor Union of Zhejiang University and co-sponsored by Graduate Union of College of Medicine, Graduate Union of Guanghua Law School and Graduate Union of College of Media and international Culture, started simultaneously among Yuquan, Zijingang, Xixi, Huajiachi and Zhijiang Campus.

The aim of the signing event among the five campuses is to evoke the students’ academic self-discipline and to cultivate ethics in everyone. The propaganda of the event began among five campuses on 27th March. Students used different kinds of slogans to express their aspiration during the preparatory work. The signing event started 11o’clock and lasted for 2hours. During the event the staff hung the streamers with the slogan ’Bring the Integrity to you’ respectively at the most crowded road on every campus and invited the students and the teachers passed by to write down their names and comments. The students of Zhejiang University participated in the event positively and signed their names on the streamer to show their resolution. Although the styles of the signature varied from each other, the aspiration were the same: it’s my duty to inherit the spirit ’Faith of Truth’. The spirit ‘Faith of Truth’ is the soul of Zhejiang University, so it’s an honorable mission to inherit and spread the spirit.

10000 leaflets were distributed during the event. Every recommendation suggested students accomplishing the followings: (1) to have a proper attitude to the relationship between ethics and interests, which contains two meanings: on one hand, people should put long-term interests before immediate ones; on the other hand, people shouldn’t gain an unfair advantage; (2) to participate in setting up the individual credit; (3) to spread the spirit ‘Faith of Truth’.  The words of the recommendation are so full of rectitude and enthusiasm that students could not help but show the resolution that they were ready to be the defenders of the good academic atmosphere and promoters of correct academic standard. They swore to practice academic self-discipline, to accept the supervision and to be the benchmark in the academic ethic construction.

Nearly 3,000 teachers and students signed their names on the streamers. However gallant words they drop, whether they keep the vow does matter. We hope that the signing event is an opportunity to promote the long-term academic ethic construction. It is believed that the recommendation on the paper can be turned into the action guideline through the continuous ethic construction. It is certain that the spirit ‘Faith of Truth’ of Zhejiang University will shine forever by our efforts, self-examine and perfection.
