Recently IF material TRENDS award 2010 competition Best9 announced the award-winning products. Products by Zhejiang University students dwarfed all the other products from more than 40 countries and got four seats of the nine. All the award-winning products will be showed on the Hanover exhibition in April.
The award-winning products by students of the department of industry design, Zhejiang University are Transformable Mat，Bamboo O-pen，Acid-Umbrella和Utape. The department of industry design has already won 12 IF awards including concept design awards and material trends awards.
The IF awards as well as German Red Dot Design Awards and U.S. IDEA award are three famous design awards in the world, which are the symbols of high quality design.

1、Transformable Mat
Team: Jun Tao, Shanshan Gao, Bing Li, Xinrui Li, Zhenpeng Li, Xiaoliang Zhao, Tailang Ma, Kai Feng, Weiqiang Yin and Tian Shu Han.
Tutors: Fangtian Ying, Shiqian Luo.
Product Introduction: Transformable Mat gets inspiration from the phenomenon that the leave of certain plants can open of fold after being stimulated. Transformable mat, whose shape is like the lotus' leaf, is made from a special temperature-sensitive synthetic material, which has good flexibility. According to principle of thermal expansion and contraction, when a cup of hot water placed on Transformable mat, it deforms quickly after being heated, bending inwards and paste onto the surface of the cup, the material of the mat on the surface is thinner than other parts, it reinforces the effect of wrapping further. So when you pick up the cup, Transformable mat intakes the heat to prevent the hand from being scalded. When the cup is laid aside for a period of time, the temperature declines, Transformabe mat will gradually restored to its original flat state.

2、Bamboo O-pen
Team: Jun Tao, Shanshan Gao, Bing Li, Xinrui Li, Zhenpeng Li, Xiaoliang Zhao, Tailang Ma, Kai Feng, Weiqiang Ying and Linkai Tao.

3、Acid-Umbrella
Team: Xin Sun, Zhening Luo, Sisi Xu, Yiwu Qiu, Shiyi Shao, Sisi Yuan, Fangyuan Wu, Manqian Qian and Chenling Ouyang.
Tutors: Xusheng Zhang, Fangtian Ying.
Product Induction: The acid-umbrella is designed to inform people of this environment killer. When the surface of the umbrella got acid rain, the green natural patterns on the surface would change into an industrial polluted world with heavy smoke. It raises the attention to this problem, encourages more people to protect the environment.

4、Utape
Team: Junjie Peng, Jiaxi Wang, Meiying Shen, Qiong Li and Wei Xiao.
Tutors: Xusheng Zhang, Fangtian Ying.
Product Instruction: Every year people use large amounts of packing tapes and it creates plenty of pollution and wasting. Users have to choose different types of tapes to match different cartons. But sometimes the tape is not long or wide enough. Utapes provides a good solution to this problem.
When the Utapes is discarded, you can rub it into small balls. Because of the special structure, Utapes saves materials, and also reduces the pollutions.
