In order to improve the graduate education management, the graduate school and the organization department of the university party committee provided a 6-day training for the graduate management elites in Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Most of them are the experienced graduate education section chief from different colleges. The training courses contained interactive lectures, on-the-spot investigation, experience sharing, etc. After the training our university's graduate management elites were well informed of the characteristic of Hong Kong's advanced education and the management system. This training received full support from the organization department of the university party committee, the graduate school and Zhejiang University-Hong Kong Polytechnic University International Business Training Center.
It is the first time that the graduate management elites had training outside China. The graduate school started pre-training for the teachers who would have courses in Hong Kong before they set off. Deputy General Dean of graduate school Jianhua Yan took a message for Deputy General Secretary of CPC Xiaodong Zou to the teachers that the party committee wished the trainees to take the opportunity of learning from the advanced education management system in Hong Kong.
Hong Kong Polytechnic University paid close attention to this training course. After a brief and solemn opening ceremony, the trainees began the course. The subject of the training is quality training of the graduate management staff, the cooperation between Hong Kong Polytechnic University and Zhejiang University, quality assurance mechanism in graduate education, philosophy and practice of the research university's development, etc. Every trainee took a serious attitude to the training course: they took notes and did seatwork assigned carefully in class; besides they participated in discussion actively in the seminar. The trainers of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University were deeply moved by our teachers' spirit of seeking truth.
After the training courses, the trainees got systemic view of the advanced education in Hong Kong. Comparing to our own graduate management, they noticed the gap between us and other world-class universities all over the world more clearly. Meantime they gained the confidence to turn Zhejiang University into a world-class university. At commencement every trainee received course-completion certification from Xiyao Wang, Deputy Dean of Hong Kong Polytechnic University International Business Training Center.
