Prof. ZHOU Lijun elected to the WLO Executive Committee

Prof. ZHOU Lijun,deputy dean of the College of Education and director of World Leisure Centerof Excellence at Zhejiang University (WLCE-ZJU) was elected to the World Leisure Organization (WLO)Executive Committee on April 1.


The WLOExecutive Committee is composed of 5 members elected by and from the Board,with a balanced diversity of backgrounds and skills representing the business,financial, academic, government and the non-profit communities. Members of theExecutive Committee shall assume responsibilities  at the call of theChair. Their major responsibilities include setting goals, monitoring progresstowards them, serving as the Evaluation Committee for Elections, receiving andacting upon programs and event proposals, determining program priorities,monitoring the financial affairs of WLO and setting annual revenue andexpenditure budgets and recommending proposals for the investments offunds.  

Members ofthe Executive Committee are initially appointed for staggered terms of threeyears. Reelection by the Board of Directors for a three-year term is possible.Prof. ZHOU Lijun has becomea board member of WLO since the year of 2011, andshe is currentlyelected as an Executive Committee member of WLO.

Formed in1952, the World Leisure Organization is a non-profit, non-governmental body ofindividuals and organizations from throughout the world. The World LeisureOrganization´s most prized partnership is its recognition as a consultativebody with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. It iscommitted to the belief that well-selected leisure experiences improve qualityof life for all. Members are from all parts of the world and from diverse areasof interest,  including travel and tourism, parks and recreation services,the arts and culture, sport, health and fitness, theme and entertainmentcenters and educational institutions.

ZJU becamepart of the network of the World Leisure Center of Excellence (WLCE) in 2018 asthe first member in Asia and the fourth globally. Currently, the WLCE networkis composed of five centers, each with their own characteristics. The WLCE-ZJUtakes the lead in sports leisure & health and leisure education.
