The Discipline of Architecture of College of Civil Engineering and Architecture of ZJU Passed the International Assessment

On January 15th, the International Assessment of Architecture Discipline of Zhejiang University was successfully held in Crescent House. The expert group, led by Prof. PETER ROWE, the former Dean of the School of Design, Harvard University, includes Prof. SARAH WHITING from School of Architecture, Rice University; Prof. EDUARDO ERNESTO DE LA PEÑA PAREJA from University of São Paulo, Spain; Prof. SHIQIAO LI from School of Architecture, University of Virginia, USA; and Professor WEIJEN WANG from University of Hong Kong.
Following the welcoming ceremony, Prof. Wu Yue, the director of the Department of Architecture, made a self-assessment report on architecture discipline to the expert group.
At 10:30 am, members of the expert group visited the exhibition of students' excellent design, the design classroom of undergraduate students, and the reference room of the Department of Architecture. The experts showed great interest in and highly praised these works. Afterwards, the expert group held discussions with representatives of teachers and students respectively. At 2:30 pm, the experts offered suggestions on related issues and the teacher's representatives responded with further explanations. Finally, the experts concluded the final comments after discussion.
At 5:00 pm, the closing ceremony of the International Assessment of Architecture Discipline was held in Room A112, Crescent House Yan Jianhua, the Vice President, Xie Guihong, the Deputy Director of the Teaching and Research Office of Undergraduate School, Chen Zhifeng, the Director of the Discipline Construction Office of the Graduate School, Guo Wengang, the Secretary of the Party Committee of the College, Fu Huijun, the Deputy Party Secretary, and Prof. Lv Chaofeng, the Vice Dean, and representatives of teachers and students attended the ceremony.
At last, Prof. PETER ROWE, the head of the expert group, highly praised the self-assessment report on the architecture discipline and fully acknowledged the achievements of the teaching reform in the past three years on behalf of the expert group. He then read out the final assessment report, which presented a series of constructive comments and suggestions in the light of the status quo and development goals of the architecture discipline. Finally, Prof. PETER ROWE announced that the result of the assessment was high-pass qualification.
